Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Auto Typer browser extension and the AutoTyper.ai website (together, the “Service”) handle information. We built Auto Typer to do its job locally on your device and to collect as little as possible.

The short version

• The text you type and your settings stay on your device — we don’t send them to our servers.
• We don’t require an account, and we don’t sell your data or run third-party ad trackers.
• The only data that leaves your device to us is what you choose to send when you submit feedback.

Information stored on your device

The extension uses your browser’s local storage (chrome.storage.local) to save your text, typing speed and accuracy settings, saved prompts, multi-block content, and a random installation identifier. This data lives in your browser and is not transmitted to us. Clearing the extension’s data or uninstalling it removes it.

Feedback you send us

If you use the in-extension feedback form, we receive the message you write, along with a small amount of technical context to help us reproduce issues: a random anonymous installation identifier (not tied to your identity), your browser’s platform and user-agent string, and the extension version. This is sent to our feedback service and stored so we can read and respond to it. We use it only to operate and improve the Service.

AI chat panels

The extension can open ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini inside its side panel. Those panels load the third-party services directly and you sign in with your own accounts. We do not access, intercept, or store the contents of those conversations. Your use of those services is governed by their own privacy policies and terms.

Browser permissions

The extension requests permissions only to perform its core function — for example, access to the active page so it can type into the editor you’ve focused, local storage to remember your settings, and the side panel to show its interface. It does not collect your browsing history or the contents of the pages you visit.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the infrastructure providers that host our feedback service, and only as needed to operate it. We may disclose information if required by law.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
